A digital repository of information on Brazilian Franciscanism

The International Network of Franciscan Studies in Brazil is a research initiative organized with the aim of studying Franciscan action in the context of Brazilian history and culture, with the collaboration of researchers, universities, institutes and research institutions in Brazil and abroad.

The network is registered in the Directory of Research Groups in Brazil - Lattes.

To date, there have been a significant number of research groups and networks of researchers dedicated to the work of the Jesuits in Brazil. The prevalence of scientific production by these groups overshadows studies on other religious orders that played a similar role from the beginning of Portuguese colonization. In this sense, a broader interest in the study of Franciscan orders, the central object of our research, is more than welcome, in order to fill an important gap in the historiography of Portuguese America.
